젊은 시절 나는 해리 벨라폰태의 음악을 무척이나 좋아해 푹빠져 있었다.

절망과 좌절의 계곡을 매일 넘나드는 어려운 삶속에서 해리 밸라폰태가

백인들의 모진 차별을 받으며 그울분을 뜨거운 노래로 토해낼때, 나는 그의

뜨거운 음성을 들으며 좌절의 계곡에서 힘차게 헤어 나올  수가 있었다.

이민와서 나는 과연 결혼은 어떻개 할 것인가를 놓고 무척이나 고민했었다.

외국인과의 결혼을 생각해 보았지만 태어나는 2세들의 용모가 어떨지,

그게 미지수여서 포기하고 집사람을 만나서 잘생긴 아들 딸을

두고 싶어했든 꿈을 이룰 수가 있었다.

막내는 엄마를 닮아 천의 얼굴을 가진듯 사진 찍을때 마다

다른 모습으로 나타나 순수한 한국여인의 아름다움을

보여주어 사진을 보는 아빠에게 행복한 순간을 안겨준다.
